WASHINGTON, DC<\/b><\/span> \u2013 Pennsylvania U.S. Senator John Fetterman on Wednesday questioned witnesses in a U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works hearing on Industrial Decarbonization.<\/span><\/p>\n

Senator Fetterman focused his questioning on the processes that can decarbonize steelmaking, advocating for greener technologies while also protecting good-paying union jobs for people working in the industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat does that mean to your average union worker that might be thinking \u2018I’m going to lose my job\u2019 because we are not able to meet some of these standards,\u201d <\/b><\/span>said Senator Fetterman. \u201cI would very much like to decarbonize steel, but these are the kind of industries that have a truth that you can\u2019t really make it without having carbon, unless there is some kind of super kind of paradigm shift.\u201d<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Witnesses in the hearing included Dr. Abigail <\/span>Regitsky<\/span>, Senior Manager, U.S. Policy and Advocacy, Breakthrough Energy; Dr. Leah Ellis, CEO and Co-founder, Sublime Systems, Inc.; and Shannon <\/span>Angielski<\/span>, President, Clean Hydrogen Future Coalition.<\/span><\/p>\n
