U.S. Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) released the following statement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>\u201cIt\u2019s a sad day for our nation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cOur government shuts down at midnight.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cI voted AYE to extend ACA tax credits because I support them\u2014but I won\u2019t vote for the chaos of shuttering our government.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cMy vote was for our country over my party.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cTogether, we must find a better way forward.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Fetterman voted in favor of House and Senate Democrats\u2019 alternative Continuing Resolution that would have kept the government open while negotiations on full-year bipartisan appropriations continue. The Democrats\u2019 proposal would have extended the Affordable Care Act premium tax credits, reversed GOP Medicaid cuts, and ensured Congress\u2014not President Trump or OMB Director Russell Vought\u2014determines how taxpayer dollars are spent. No Senate Republicans supported the measure.<\/p>\n","protected":false}}
