Witnesses represented two of three banks that have been seized by regulators in the past two months.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-6736 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/projects.45press.com\/fetterman-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Committee-on-Banking-Housing-Urban-Affairs-09_45_01-AM-14-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"726\" height=\"409\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Senator Fetterman first criticized former Silicon Valley Bank CEO Greg Becker for vacationing in Hawaii just days after the bank\u2019s failure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe second biggest bank collapse in U.S. history and you chose to go to Hawaii. I\u2019ve never been to Hawaii, nor has my family. I guess I haven\u2019t crashed a bank,\u201d <strong>said Senator Fetterman.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Senator Fetterman also used his time to slam Republican\u2019s debt limit proposal to increase work requirements for SNAP and their hypocritical budget priorities, pointing out how these bank executives received million-dollar bonuses and share profits despite driving their banks into the ground and forcing taxpayers to pick up the pieces.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cShouldn\u2019t you have a working requirement after we bail out your bank? Republicans seem to be more preoccupied with SNAP requirements for hungry people than protecting taxpayers that have to bail out these banks,\u201d <strong>said Senator Fetterman.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank in March, Senator Fetterman has been fighting for commonsense bank regulations and increased executive accountability. Just three weeks ago, Senator Fetterman participated in <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.45press.com\/fetterman-old\/press-releases\/fetterman-questions-the-role-of-greed-in-bank-collapses-pushes-for-executive-accountability-at-banking-hearing\/\">another hearing<\/a> on these bank failures, where he called out the role of corporate greed in the collapses.
