Washington, D.C.<\/strong> \u2014 This week, U.S. Senator John Fetterman (D-PA), U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), and Congresswoman Summer Lee (PA-12) celebrated the Biden-Harris Administration\u2019s announcement of a $303.5 million loan guarantee to Eos Energy Enterprises, Inc. The funding will support the construction of two manufacturing facilities in Turtle Creek and Duquesne, Pennsylvania, producing next-generation zinc-bromine batteries. The project is set to create up to 1,000 high-quality union jobs, including those represented by the United Steelworkers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPennsylvania steel built America and now Pennsylvania batteries will help power it,\u201d said Senator Fetterman.<\/strong> \u201cThanks to President Biden\u2019s leadership, we\u2019re creating good-paying, union jobs for the people of Allegheny County and investing in innovative battery technology that\u2019ll keep our grid strong and reliable. I\u2019m proud to see the federal government, local leaders, and Eos working together to deliver real results for Pennsylvanians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThanks to the Inflation Reduction Act,<\/em> we are making game-changing investments in energy technology manufacturing to ensure that Pennsylvania can continue to power our Nation,\u201d said Senator Casey.<\/strong> \u201cI fought for this investment because it will create union jobs and help Mon Valley workers lead the way on clean energy storage production. This project is not only an investment in the technology of tomorrow, but in Pennsylvania workers.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By investing in clean energy and prioritizing underserved areas like ours, we\u2019re proving that we can take care of our planet while also taking care of our people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project will transform the former Westinghouse Electric Corporation campus in Turtle Creek, an underserved community identified under the Biden-Harris Administration\u2019s Justice40 Initiative<\/em><\/a>, into a hub of clean energy manufacturing. By collaborating with local high schools, trade programs, and community organizations, Eos is ensuring these investments directly benefit the workforce and families in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The funding, part of the Department of Energy\u2019s Title 17 Clean Energy Financing Program<\/a>, will support production lines for Eos Z3™ batteries, a long-duration, grid-scale energy storage system designed for renewable energy integration. These batteries are safer, non-flammable, and more cost-efficient than traditional lithium-ion options, using domestically sourced materials to avoid supply chain volatility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
