Rinck won the November special election to fill the at-large Position 8 seat, which represents voters citywide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am honored to join the Council and look forward to working with them to tackle our city\u2019s most pressing challenges to create a Seattle that works for everyone,\u201d said Councilmember Rinck. \u201cThe stakes for our city are high, and we must stand firm in defending the rights of women, LGBTQIA2S+ communities, immigrants, and workers against both federal threats and local challenges. Together, we can build a strong, healthy, and inclusive community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rinck previously served at the King County Regional Homelessness Authority, where she led the development of a comprehensive five-year regional plan to address homelessness. She was also the Assistant Director of Policy Planning and State Operations at the University of Washington.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am excited to welcome our newest member, who is ready to hit the ground running,\u201d said <strong>Council President <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattle.gov\/council\/meet-the-council\/sara-nelson\"><strong>Sara Nelson<\/strong><\/a>(Position 9). \u201cCouncilmember Rinck joins us at a pivotal time, as we continue to seek common-sense solutions and shared ground to best serve all of Seattle\u2019s residents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Councilmember Rinck is committed to progressive revenue solutions, affordable housing, worker protections, public safety, and climate action. She has a clear plan to tackle Seattle\u2019s budget crisis, expand housing supply to meet the city&#8217;s growing needs, and protect workers\u2019 rights. Her public safety approach focuses on building alternative responses and preventative measures as well as community engagement, while her climate action plan prioritizes equity and sustainability.<\/p>\n","protected":false}}
