Now, it\u2019s time for City Council to roll up our sleeves to review, examine, amend, and pass the 2025 budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;As Budget Chair, I look forward to leading a transparent and collaborative process. It\u2019s crucial that we center both fiscal responsibility and prioritize the investments the people of our city depend on \u2014 improving public safety, creating affordable housing, and addressing homelessness. We can and we must do both.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Background<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Budget Chair Strauss will lead the Council\u2019s budget process this fall. Under his leadership, the Select Budget Committee has been meeting since April to prepare for this fall budget season \u2014 five months earlier than normal.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Select Budget Committee will host its first meeting of the fall budget process tomorrow at 9:30 AM. During that meeting the committee will get an overview of the mayor\u2019s budget proposal from the City Budget Office.
