Noel Frame, Washington state<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rep. Liz Berry, Washington state<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rep. Julia Reed, Washington state<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>King County Councilmember Jorge Bar\u00f3n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Seattle City Councilmember Bob Kettle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Background<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last month, Sound Transit announced it is considering reducing the Ballard Link Extension to help address its long-term financial challenges. Sound Transit has presented three cost-cutting options to its Board of Directors \u2013 all three options would stop light rail short of Ballard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Councilmember Strauss, who also serves as a Sound Transit Board Member, has called the plans unacceptable. <a href=\"https:\/\/protect2.fireeye.com\/v1\/url?k=31323334-50bba2bf-31321b84-4544474f5631-b221c0eea3de98e0&amp;q=1&amp;e=0b1fd41d-0ddd-4cb8-86dc-e38a76f24fbf&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Flinks-1.govdelivery.com%2FCL0%2Fhttps%3A%252F%252Fcouncil.seattle.gov%252F2026%252F03%252F18%252Fcouncilmember-strauss-calls-on-sound-transit-to-keep-promise-made-to-voters-build-light-rail-to-ballard%252F%253Futm_medium%3Demail%2526utm_source%3Dgovdelivery%2F1%2F0100019ddb2c8d59-5f36c967-74d6-486e-ac1a-c121f305e51e-000000%2FxF2tWqjz4rP2s5kc9ZppfFqEMXd7rAR7xbbQ20z_saA%3D452\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">He urged Sound Transit to keep its promises<\/a> to voters who approved the Ballard Light Rail Extension a decade ago and have been paying for it since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sound Transit Board of Directors is expected to vote on whether to adopt one of the cost-cutting options as soon as May 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"># # #<\/p>\n","protected":false}}
