{"id":20945,"date":"2024-11-18T12:47:03","modified":"2024-11-18T12:47:31","slug":"seattle-select-budget-committee-vote-on-2025-26-budget-legislation-tomorrow-added-public-comment-available","link":"https:\/\/council.seattle.gov\/2024\/11\/18\/seattle-select-budget-committee-vote-on-2025-26-budget-legislation-tomorrow-added-public-comment-available\/","title":{"rendered":"Seattle Select Budget Committee vote on 2025-26 budget legislation tomorrow, added public comment available"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Final vote by full council expected Thursday<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Seattle City Council\u2019s Select Budget Committee, chaired by <strong>Councilmember <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/seattle.gov\/council\/strauss\"><strong>Dan Strauss<\/strong><\/a> (District 6), will meet for the final time tomorrow to take its final votes on the 2025-26 budget and related legislation, such as proposed changes to the JumpStart Payroll Expense Tax and a capital gains tax proposal.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>An additional public comment period has been added for tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 19. <\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several amendments to the JumpStart Payroll Expense Tax legislation have been proposed since the public hearing last week. In response, <strong>Chair Strauss<\/strong> has added an additional public comment period at the start of tomorrow\u2019s committee meeting at 9:30 a.m. to hear from community members. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is in addition to the four other public comment periods and two five-hour-plus public hearings the Select Budget Committee has hosted since the Mayor released his budget proposal. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WHAT: <\/strong>Final meeting of the Select Budget Committee this budget season&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WHEN: <\/strong>Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WHERE: <\/strong>Seattle City Hall and streamed live via Seattle Channel &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to participate<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People can participate either in person at Seattle City Hall or remotely. In-person participants can use sign-up sheets at the front of Council Chambers to register to speak. People participating remotely should follow the instructions on this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattle.gov\/council\/committees\/public-comment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">webpage<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Background<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mayor Bruce Harrell transmitted his proposed budget to the Seattle City Council on Sept. 24.
